Cryptkeeper came to us in late 2022 as a Hospice Cat with about two weeks to live. She was around 20 years old and had many health problems. She arrived through Sarge's Animal Rescue of Waynesville, so she could spend her last days in comfort. Once, Cryptkeeper had a good life; she had been declawed, making her an indoor cat. At our place, she had her own room where she could wander around. For the next year and a half, she lived with us, and every morning she would see me off to work.
In the late summer of 2024, Cryptkeeper stopped eating and drinking, and we knew it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. That day, she stayed close to me. We tried to find something she would eat, and then we went out into the sun and just lay in the yard together until the vet arrived. Rest well, Lady Cryptkeeper.
Boots joined our family through Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) of WNC. FUR was contacted about a 6-week-old kitten with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). The vet suggested euthanasia, claiming she would have severe CH and finding her a home would be impossible. However, Boots was brought to Flair's sanctuary as a foster-to-adopt kitty.
Bootsie received 24-hour care, learning to eat, drink, and navigate her surroundings. As a very wobbly kitty, she faced challenges in getting where she wanted to go but remained determined to learn. Day by day, Bootsie grew stronger, adapting to her condition and striving to live her best life.
Bootsie went to work with Emily every day, and soon the volunteers became interested in learning about severe CH kitties. One day, a lady became interested in doing a trial adoption with Bootsie. Finally, she decided that Bootsie had found her forever home. On December 24th, Bootsie got her furever home.

Shakespeare is a male kitty who was found in Waynesville, NC and brought to Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) for help. Weighing only 4.5 lbs, he received an urgent intake and was brought to Flair's sanctuary for care. Upon examination, it was discovered that Shakespeare had an upper respiratory infection and a thyroid issue, necessitating medication. After a five-day stay at Flair's, his respiratory infection worsened, and his eating slowed, prompting a follow-up appointment. With a new round of antibiotics, Mr. Shakespeare began to feel better. He is a very handsome cat and will be returning to FUR in a few weeks to find his forever home.
